Keeping warm and well in winter
Some health problems, such as asthma, sore throat and cold sores, are triggered or worsened by cold weather. Cold homes can have a significant impact on people’s health. One of the best ways of keeping yourself well during winter is to stay warm.
There are several ways that you can keep yourself and your family healthy and well in the winter months.
Tips include how to eat well, stay active, dress warmly, and get a flu jab. Other advice includes covering your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, washing your hands often, keeping a well-stocked medicine cabinet and keeping an eye out for your neighbours.
You can find a wealth of information and advice on staying healthy in periods of cold weather at the NHS Choices Winter Health
page on the NHS Choices website.
