Quit smoking with the right support for you
Greenwich's 33,000 smokers are being encouraged to "quit for your own good and the health of those around you" as the annual Stoptober campaign gets under way.
Stoptober – the 28-day stop smoking challenge – begins on 1 October.
To date, the annual campaign run by Public Health England has driven 1.7 million quit attempts and quitting success rates across the country are at an all-time high.
In Greenwich, 41,000 people have already given up smoking and NHS Greenwich Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), wants to help more people do the same.
The most successful attempts to quit are made with a combination of methods, and this year Stoptober is providing a free online Personal Quit Plan, which helps smokers find the right support for them – with options including face-to-face support, nicotine replacement therapies (such as patches, inhalers or lozenges) and e-cigarettes.
Stoptober also offers a range of extra free quitting support including a Stoptober app, Facebook messenger bot, daily emails and Stoptober online communities.
For more information on this year's Stoptober campaign, including the Stoptober App and giving up smoking using a Personal Quit Plan, visit the Stoptober website.
Quitters in Greenwich can get support and information about local 'stop smoking' drop-in centres, stop smoking medications and e-cigarettes from a range of sources:

- The Kick the Habit smoking cessation support programme has helped many quit smoking through its roadshows and drop ins all over Greenwich.
